I heard about the anime series “Karin” from my fiancee who is also an anime fan. It is basically about a 21st century family of vampires. They live in Japan and lead a modest life while drinking humans blood discreetly. However, Karin, the oldest daughter is different then them in the effect that she overproduces blood rather then lack blood like the rest of her family. Rather then she drink blood she must transfuse the blood into the victim, which increases their blood level. When Karins blood overflows, it causes her to have massive nosebleeds.

She is able to attend school like a normal student as her odd characteristic enables her to go out in daylight. Karin lives much like a human despite the blood transfusion thing. Things change when a new student enters her life and learns her family secret. Kenta Usai disrupts her partially peaceful life because whenever she goes near the guy, her blood increases. Which is very inconvenient as he is in her classes and works in the same place as her so she can’t avoid him no matter how hard she tries.

Kenta knows that there is something off about Karin so he sets out to find out her secret, which he eventually does after a lot of misunderstandings. Karins older brother, Ren is about to erase Kentas memories but their little sister, Anju stops him because she figures that Kenta can help and protect Karin during the day since the family can’t

I haven’t even touched the tip of the iceberg on this anime but I don’t want to spoil the ending and good parts for everyone so head over to crunchyroll.com, search for Karin, watch it and come back here and tell me what you thought of it. ;)

Karin is also available as a manga too under the name of Chibi Vampire.

There are 24 episodes in all, and it is a romantic comedy anime. The series is still up at Crunchyroll but could be removed any day now.
